Discovery Rangers -- This program closely resembles the Boy Scouts, yet with a very strong spiritual emphasis. The boys work through much of the Old and New Testaments, studying the various themes and characters of these books. In addition, the boys work on a variety of merit badges including but not limited to Fire Craft, Wildlife, Astronomy, Rope Craft, and etc. .
Because the Discovery Rangers learn so much about the outdoors, they get the opprotunity to go camping at least twice a year.
Royal Ranger Outpost 28
At First Assembly we look for every opprotunity to touch individual lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We also realize the importance and influence that strong, godly men have on our communities and society at large. For that reason, we get involved in the lives of our boys at the earliest age possible and help them become the courageous men God has destined them to be.
The Royal Ranger program seeks to "Reach, Teach, and Keep boys for Christ." Presently at First Assembly we have two Ranger groups. Ranger Kids for boys Kindergarten through 2nd grade and for boys in 3rd through 5th grade we offer Discovery Rangers.
Ranger Kids -- This program concentrates on foundational Bible lessons (Daniel and the Lion's Den, Noah's Ark, etc.) as well as basic wildlife studies.
Kindergarteners will work on the four patches that lead up the trail to the Elk patch.
First graders will work on the four patches that lead up the trail to the Wolverine patch.
Second graders will work on the four patches that lead up the trail that awards them with the Cougar patch.
